Coastal Current Adventures offers unique, small group outdoor adventure programs sea kayaking, surfing, hiking & exploring on the west coast of BC.

These action packed programs are fun, inspiring, safe and challenging. Our adventures aim to give participants a genuine connection with nature through observations and experiences while acquiring skills, building friendships and making unforgettable memories.

Our phenomenal certified guides are fun, respectful, compassionate and dedicated to facilitating positive experiences in beautiful places.

Sea Kayak Camp

7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS  |  AGES 13-18

July 5th - 11th 2026 

Kayak camp is a fun, adventurous journey exploring the magical Southern Gulf Islands. Campers will learn kayak strokes, rescues, navigation and foster competent camping skills.

This program will bring together 10 youth ages, 13 to 18 with two of our phenomenal certified guides who are fun, respectful and compassionate. Our team creates a family dynamic where youth will establish friendships while developing a deeper connection and respect for the amazing places that we get to play! We will learn about marine and terrestrial ecology through observations and experiences, while being moderately challenged as we become more proficient, paddlers and campers in our ever-changing environment.

This adventure will begin on Salt Spring Island where we will spend our first night camping along the beautiful shores of Ruckle Park, and learning kayak strokes + rescues on Cusheon lake. The remaining five nights we will be camping at national and provincial park campsites throughout the wondrous gulf Islands. Depending on weather and our group dynamics, this expedition could take us to Islands, such as well as Galliano, Pender, Portland, DeCourcy and so many epic little beaches and islands along our way.

Campers can expect to take on leader ship roles within the group, where they will help facilitate cooking, cleaning, decision-making, route, planning and caring for the team. We will eat delicious wholesome food in amazing places with good company. Our journey will provide opportunities to observe, marine, mammals, intertidal creatures, seabirds, spectacular scenery, and whatever else nature has on its agenda for us!

All of the places we will visit during this program are home to the Coast Salish peoples of Tsawout, Quw’utsun & Penelakut First Nations who have stewarded these land for time immemorial. We honour and respect the places that we learn & play while opening our hearts and minds to the rich cultural place we will get to experience on this journey.

Surf Camp

7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS  |  AGES 13-18

July 26th - August 31st 2026

August 9th - 15th 2026

Suitable for beginner and experienced surfers alike, this program is an awesome mix of surfing, camping, hiking, exploring and a whole lot of West Coast fun!

This adventure will bring together 10 youth ages 13 - 18 with two of our amazing certified instructors who are fun, respectful and compassionate.

Our base camp is located in the Alberni Valley, we will offer a shuttle from Crofton and/or meet in Alberni before traversing the mountains to the rugged west coast. We will set up our base camp at Surf Junction Campground near Ucluelet and start with fundamental surf skills at one of the stellar beaches in the Pacific Rim National Park.

Campers will have the opportunity to surf Long Beach and Wickaninnish dependent on swell, tides + wind. There will be 2 instructors in the water teaching safety, surf etiquette and assisting participants with reading the waves, paddling and popping up!

All surf gear is provided but if participants have their own surfboard or wetsuit they are welcome to bring along.

Surf camp is much more than just shredding the waves, throughout our week on the coast we will be learning via observations + experiences about forest and marine ecology which will show us how intertwined everything really is.
We facilitate a safe and inclusive space for youth to be themselves, establish friendships and build a stronger and more reciprocal connection with these amazing places that we get to explore!

Campers can expect to take on leadership roles within our group where they will help facilitate cooking, cleaning, decision making and caring for the team. We will eat wholesome meals made from scratch in epic places with good people + positive vibes.

This surf adventure will get you stoked!
All of the places we will visit during this program are home to the Nuu-Chah-Nulth people of the Tla-o-qui-aht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ & Toquaht First Nations who have stewarded these land for time immemorial. We honor and respect the places that we learn & play while opening our hearts and minds to the rich cultural place we will get to experience on this journey.

Day Camp

July 13th - 16th 2026  

4 DAYS | AGES 9-12

For youth ages 9-12, this adventurous 4 day program is full of challenges, fun and learning. Campers practice kayak strokes and rescues on beautiful Cusheon Lake in preparation for ocean paddles to beaches in close proximity to Salt Spring.

They take hikes to Mt. Maxwell, Ruckle Park and Menhinick with their majestic fir and cedar trees, arbutus groves and stunning seascapes. We plan the shoreline excursions to facilitate optimum intertidal exploration and mountain hikes for the warmer times of the day.

Our certified playful guides teach campers about the coastal ecosystems, initiative games and survival skills. They supervise the daily free time at the lake when campers can swim, paddleboard, kayak, canoe and tool around in a motorized rowboat.

Explore the Coast Sea Kayak Camp

10 DAYS / 9 NIGHTS | AGES 14-18

August 21st - 30th 2026

Embark on an epic sea kayak adventure where we learn while exploring the beautiful west coast of Vancouver island!

This program brings together a group of 10 youth ages 14-18 with 2 phenomenal guides who are fun, respectful and compassionate. Our certified guides are dedicated to facilitating unforgettable and positive experiences for youth to connect with nature and each other while learning about our marine and terrestrial ecosystems that we love so much!

This adventure will begin in the Alberni Valley before transitioning to the Barkley or Clayoquot Sound to begin the sea kayak journey. There will be a shuttle on Day 1 from Crofton to Alberni. Participants can expect to take on leadership roles within the group where they will help to facilitate cooking, cleaning, decision making, route planning and caring for the team. This program provides the opportunity for youth to learn skills like navigation, weather theory, understanding tides + currents and how to make safe decisions with a group on the water.

Our philosophy at Coastal Current Adventures is that we are all part of nature. When we get to immerse ourselves in a place and learn from our observations and experiences we create a connection with these lands and waters that nurture us. When we feel a connection to peoples, places and creatures then we inherit a responsibility which we then carry throughout our journey of life.
