Description
Embark on an epic sea kayak adventure where we learn while exploring the beautiful west coast of Vancouver island!
This program brings together a group of 10 youth ages 15-18 with 2 phenomenal guides who are fun, respectful and compassionate. Our certified guides are dedicated to facilitating unforgettable and positive experiences for youth to connect with nature and each other while learning about our marine and terrestrial ecosystems that we love so much!
This adventure will begin in the Alberni Valley before transitioning to the Barkley or Clayoquot Sound to begin the sea kayak journey. There will be a shuttle on Day 1 from Crofton to Alberni. Participants can expect to take on leadership roles within the group where they will help to facilitate cooking, cleaning, decision making, route planning and caring for the team. This program provides the opportunity for youth to learn skills like navigation, weather theory, understanding tides + currents and how to make safe decision with a group on the water.
Our philosophy at Coastal Current Adventures is that we are all part of nature. When we get to immerse ourselves in a place and learn from our observations and experiences we create a connection with these lands and waters that nurture us. When we feel a connection to peoples, places and creatures then we inherit a responsibility which we then carry throughout our journey of life.
Please note:
Should a child be required to leave camp for behavioral reasons, drug & alcohol use, or they are homesick, there are no refunds. Parents will need to pay for transportation out of program. We have a no smoking/drinking policy at camp, plus no mobile devices.
