Day Camp

For youth ages 9-12, this adventurous  4 day program is full of challenges, fun and learning. Campers practice kayak strokes and rescues on beautiful Cusheon Lake in preparation for ocean paddles to white shell beaches in close proximity to Salt Spring.
They take hikes to Mt. Maxwell, Ruckle Park and the Menhinick First Nations Reserve with their majestic fir and cedar trees, arbutus groves and stunning seascapes.  We plan the shoreline excursions to facilitate optimum intertidal exploration and mountain hikes for the warmer times of the day.
Our certified playful guides teach campers about the coastal ecosystems, initiative games and survival skills. They supervise the daily free time at the lake when campers can swim, paddleboard, kayak, canoe and tool around in a motorized rowboat.
This is an exciting introduction to adventuring in our spectacular Gulf Islands

12 days / 11 nights | Ages 15-18
July 27th - August 7th 2025

Join our team for a unique experience to Surf & Kayak on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

We will spend 6 days surfing the beautiful beaches in Pacific Rim National Park while also exploring the forests and shorelines, deepening our connection with these magnificent places. During the surfing component of this program we will be base camping at Surf Junction Campground between Ucluelet + Tofino.

Once we have surfed to our hearts content we will transition to the sea kayak portion of the journey. We will set out from Toquaht Bay near Ucluelet and spend 6 days paddling & camping throughout the Broken Group Islands in the Barkley Sound. During our kayak journey we will experience this vast archipelago of amazing islands and the creatures, large and small that inhabit the lands and waters of this abundant environment.

This program brings together youth ages 15 - 18 years old and helps them build their confidence while taking on Leadership roles in the group with guidance from their instructors and support from their piers. All youth will be part of the cooking, cleaning, packing, decision making and reflecting on our experiences.

All of the places we will visit during this program are home to the Nuu-Chah-Nulth people of the Tla-o-qui-aht, Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ & Toquaht First Nations who have stewarded these land for time immemorial. We honor and respect the places that we learn & play while opening our hearts and minds to the rich cultural place we will get to experience on this journey.

We are really looking forward to bringing together a great group of youth to make memories, have fun and learn in one of our favorite places on the planet!!

7 days / 6 nights  |  Ages 13-18

July 6th - 12th 2025

*Check out our new West Coast Adventure Camp if you are looking for a longer trip at the end of July, beginning of August!

Kayak Camp is designed to introduce and enhance individual knowledge of kayak strokes, rescues, and navigation, and to foster competent camping skills.
Campers will undoubtedly develop a deeper respect for the natural environment they play in while also establishing new friendships, some of which may last a lifetime.  This camp is fun, educational, interesting and at times, moderately challenging, as campers learn to be more proficient paddlers.

The first two nights of camp are spent at beautiful oceanfront Ruckle Provincial Park while the days are based out of our location on Cusheon Lake.
Here we teach fundamental and advanced kayak skills, in order to ensure the group is well prepared for their upcoming 5 day expedition.
Campers will enjoy some free time on this lovely freshwater lake, for swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing and playing around in various other self propelled watercraft.

Depending on weather and the group’s paddling stamina, each day of the expedition we will set up camp at a new location which may include Sansum Narrows, Wallace and Portland Islands, Dionisio on Galiano and Pirates Cove on Decourcy.
The scenery in this area of the Gulf Islands is spectacular and the marine environment rich with wildlife, seabirds and intertidal species.

Happy Campers

I wanted to thank you so much for such a fun and adventurous camp experience.  I really appreciate what you do for so many kids, including me.  On your camps, I always learn something new about myself and my physical and mental abilities.  The West Coast Camp was an amazing experience for me so thank you for giving me the opportunity to explore who I am and what I am capable of and how I can interact with others.”  Tristin

“Hi Jack:  Just wanted to say thanks to you and your staff for making Broc and Tom’s Kayak Camp such a huge success. When we picked them up at the ferry last weekend they were both bubbling over with enthusiasm and can’t wait to come back next year.  Every day since, Broc tells me he wants a kayak of his own and wants to teach me some of the skills he learned. This camp has really kindled a huge interest for him and we couldn’t be more pleased!”

“I’m gonna miss you two so much! I know I will look at nature in a different way now.  You made me learn and discover all about kayaking, intertidal life, and wicking.  I never had so much fun ever!!”   Astrid

“My son, Jesse just came back from the surf camp. He told me all about it and just can’t wait to go back again. In other words; he loved it! I am very impressed too. A big THANK YOU! “

I would like to thank you for a tremendous foundation your camps have built for me.  Thanks for your teaching, loving and camaraderie;  my time with you all has molded me into the young man I am now.  Four years at summer camp with you has transformed me from”little Max” with little confidence to Big Max (I am 6’4 now) who is nature-savvy, well rounded and leadership wielding.  The last leadership camp was just awesome for me.  I feel after years of camps I have graduated from the most amazing school in the world.  Thanks for igniting my passion for nature and teaching me to lead!”   Max O.

"I could really not be any happier with that group and the leaders. Thank you for providing lifelong memories and incredible adventures in such a safe and inspiring way. You’re the best!" — Mel W.
